Q: Do we need a reservation? We accept reservations for groups of 5 or more. For parties smaller than that, or individuals, we seat anytime on a first come, first serve basis. Birthday parties, adult groups, corporate functions, and scout troops all require reservations in order to receive party discounts.
Q. Where can I park? We have 4 parking spaces in front and 10 parking space behind the studio that guests are welcome to use. Street parking is also available.
Q. How much does it cost? Many of our most popular items fall into the price range of $20-$35. The price of your piece includes everything you will need to create your piece of art; glazes, tools, overglazing, firing, etc.
Q. Do I need to be an artist? No, absolutely not! We have tons of sponges, stencils, stamps, and technique books to help you create your piece. The studio is also always filled with lots of finished pieces to inspire you.
Q. How long does it take to paint a piece? The paint time for an adult is usually 1 to 2 hours, children usually paint in 30 minutes to 1 hour. Of course, this can vary depending on the size of the piece and the level of detail. If you do not finish your piece in one sitting we will gladly store your piece in our work-in-progress area for 30 days. You will be charged a $5 return studio fee per piece each time you work on it. Pieces will be ready to pick up 1 week after they are finished.
Q. Do ceramics and ceramic glazes contain lead? All the glazes used in the studio are lead-free. This is in contrast to much of the pottery you would find for sale in a big box store, which typically contain small amounts of lead. All of our glazes are completely non-toxic and lead free. They are also made in the USA!
Q. Are pieces dishwasher and/or microwave safe? Our manufacturers have assured us that all the pieces are dishwasher safe; however, please use your best judgement. Your piece is a hand painted work of art and may be irreplaceable (e.g. child hand prints).
Q. I live out of town, can you ship finished pottery? We can arrange for your pottery to be shipped to you when they are finished. The shipping charge starts at $12 per address for up to 4 pieces and usually arrive in 2-3 weeks.
Q. When will my pieces be ready? Your pottery pieces will be glazed, fired, and ready a week from your finished date. Your glass pieces will be fired and we will call you when it is ready for pickup in 2-3 weeks. We encourage you to pick up your creations in a timely fashion. Half Baked Pottery will not be responsible for broken or lost items which remain after 30 days after completion.
Q. Can you have my piece ready in less than a week? Yes, we can fire items and have them ready in 3 days. The rush fee is $5.00 per order.
Q. Can I eat and drink from the plates, bowls, mugs, and cups that I painted? Yes, all of our glazes are lead free and non-toxic.
Q. Is this activity appropriate for small children? Yes, it is indeed! Have your little ones express themselves. Many of our projects are easy to learn and simple to finish. Many parents and grandparents love projects that feature the children's hand prints.
Q. Can I bring my own food and drink into the studio as refreshment while I or my group paints? You bet! In fact, for many of our bridal and baby showers, we encourage our guests to bring in their own Hor's d'ouvres, and refreshments. For Groups: We do have a table that we can set aside for you to place your gifts, Hor's d'ouvres, and refreshments.
Q. Can I use my expired Groupon, Living Social, Eversave, etc? Yes, you are welcome to use your expired Groupon etc. for the original purchase price. If you are very close to the expiration, feel free to call the studio to check. We often honor the vouchers for the deal a little after the expiration to help out our last minute customers.
Q. Are you ADA accessible? Unforunately, we do not have a ramp. We have a step up from the side walk onto our porch, and one more from the porch into the studio. The stairs are approximately 6". So far, our customers have had no troubles getting in! Service Dogs are welcomed and appreciated!
